SIWILAI’s menswear story features a discerning edit of seasonal must-haves, runway looks and timeless classics. We stay up-to-date and attuned to the various wardrobe needs of the city’s most well-dressed men, catering for their every sartorial scenario, from casual to formal to holiday wear in both summer and winter destinations. Read on to see what spring/summer 2018 has in store.

Basic Essentials

We start with the basics: easy everyday garments from SIWILAI mainstays like Maison Kitsune, whose trip to an imaginary town called Romance inspired just the right proportions of stylish and sentimental. Think bright red speedboat motifs sailing across a sweatshirt; a pair of embroidered birds gazing lovingly at one another from across a knitted polo top; a little badge announcing “Welcome to Romance” on a red-and-white striped chambray shirt. All easy to wear—and easy to love—pieces, guaranteed to outlast any summer fling.

Spring/summer 18 also marks the long awaited release of Maison Kitsune’s NBA capsule collection: a collaboration between the Parisian brand and the National Basketball Association (NBA) that sees both entities’ logos being fused and reworked to bold, irreverent effect on jerseys, track pants, jackets and hoodies.

Meanwhile, Officine Generale’s beautifully tailored essentials with a workwear slant provide the ultimate foundation on which to build and evolve one’s wardrobe. Finely crafted yet unfussy cotton shirts in plenty of colors, patterns and detailing promise to be your hardest working pieces. Dress them up with the brand’s signature single breasted blazers and straight leg trousers, cut from a variety of handsome fabrics, be it British wool or pure Italian cotton or Japanese Indigo denim. For off-duty days, achieve that perfectly worn-in look and feel with their naturally dyed t-shirts and sweaters that only get better with every wash. No matter the occasion—or outfit—Head Porter has a wallet, gym bag, briefcase, rucksack or wheelie suitcase to match, all crafted in the brand’s signature nylon make.

Streetwear

This season’s streetwear selection stars a new SIWILAI addition. Founded by DJ and fashion designer Virgil Abloh, Off-White has become the authority on contemporary urban apparel, blending high fashion and art with street style aesthetics. Beloved for its graphic print tees, striped-sleeve hoodies and texturally rich trousers, the label has also garnered a loyal following for its much-hyped, star-studded Paris fashion week shows.

Over on the American west coast, Palm Angels is king, channeling downtown LA vibes with a rebellious streak via technical performance wear. Think color-blocked sweatpants, knitted sweaters with collars that zip up into ski masks and tracksuits in every color under the sun. As for footwear, sneakers reign supreme. And if you’re the fretting type that doesn’t like to get his shoes dirty, you’ll never have to be too precious when it comes to Golden Goose’s pre-distressed versions.

Spring/summer 2018 also kicks off with another Adidas x NEIGHBORHOOD collaboration. Lauded Japanese streetwear label NEIGHBORHOOD joins forces with sports powerhouse Adidas to create one of the season’s most cop-worthy capsule collections. Expect sharply constructed street-cum-sportswear: track jackets and shorts with motorcycle gear-inspired accents and of course, limited edition sneakers—four to be exact. Each all-black pair boasts its own unique detail: serrated panels, BOOST midsoles and striking white shark-tooth graphics, just to name a few.

Bold Prints

For the men who boldly go for bold prints, SIWILAI presents Sacai’s spring/summer 2018 collection, featuring dizzying tribals, flower-strewn tartans, banker-shirt stripes and typographical treatments. When worn separately, each piece lend itself to be mixed, matched and easily integrated into any smart casual look. Those less daring can still opt for a touch of print via J.W. Anderson’s finely striped pieces, be it the black-on-white sleeve details of a button-up shirt or fine lines forming a subtle rainbow on a knitted sweater.

Beach-bound Summer

The season is not complete without a generous showing of swim and beach gear. Make a splash in Maison Kitsune’s bright and bold swim trunks, each certified with a tiny embroidery of the label’s fox logo. Alternatively, Saturdays NYC’s all-purpose shorts, in not-so-conventional summer palates of purple, ivory and khaki, will take you from beach to bar without missing a beat. Pair with Suicoke’s iconic sandals, rendered in supple suede, luxurious ponyhair or weather-proof nylon sat atop sturdy rubber soles that’ll see you through summer after summer.
